It’s been six weeks of snow now here on the west coast of Norway. Like or not, with the standard being two weeks every winter, there is a certain wow factor over the snow situation we experience at the moment. Like for the guy in the image: Does he like it, or does he despair? I can’t really tell, but I think the picture tells a story.

The most photographed place in Oslo the last couple of years must undoubtedly be the new Opera House. The reason? The large spaces, the very characteristic shape and color. Opera houses are places where dreams are created and manifested. I think this candid shot says just as much about the essence of dreams as a full scale image of the wonderful new Oslo landmark.

Panning and movement is a fun way of using the camera. But what is the value of these kinds of images? From the previous attempt and from discussions in other places this is a type of photography that has it’s fans but also it’s opponents. I’ve tried to follow Jan Ivars advice here, and do something with the colors, but that aside: Do you like images where the main point of interest isn’t sharp or in focus? What’s your stand on panned images?

This image is the last of my series from the Mos Pond (Mosvannet) for now, and what you see are two children skating back and forth in front of me. They were having a lovely time, and that’s what I’m trying to portray.
Notice: My camera was full of sensor dust. I’m aware of this specific weakness in the image thanks to the well grounded comments by Jan Ivar. Where do you think the limit is for publishing a ready image? Can sensor dust be accepted, or should one do as much as one can to remove it – something I have done here.

Winter floating by, ice on the pond, skaters flashing past, a quick timeless moment, but still a time captured. There is something excotic happening when nature changes it’s face and turn the well known into something new and unexpected.

I sometimes forget that advice. I’ve walked this path past our local church to the bus station or the grocery store hundreds of times, but seldom thought about it as a subject for my photos. Well, I for one think that you should listen to the advice from the best people around.

This really is a student’s idea, but I had to help out doing the camera work. It’s about being left out because you don’t fit in, unfortunately an experience too many people have had with a Churc that states inclusiveness as a trademark of it’s excistence. I don’t blame the Church, but there are too many people representing their own image of the Church, and not the Church in it’s essence.

We were suddenly hit by snow, and my daughter dragged me out at ten in the evening to shoot som pictures for her Facebook. It’s not the easiest of settings, darkness, snow and handheld photoshooting without a flash, but I thought this playing with the camera gave a somewhat artsy feel and works in some way. I know it won’t sell me as a photographer, but hey! What about a little fun in the unexpected cold?
