I’ve been to Prague and back, and seen these flowers in their bed along the Vaclavska Nám with the Narodni Muzeum. This is the place of the Velvet Revolution of 1989, the place where two students burned themselves to death as a protest against Communism. Were there flowers here during the Cold War? And do we take them for granted now? What happened to the dreams and the flower power?

I don’t know what this couple expected, but it can’t be a common sight in the penthouses of New York. The streets of Venice are a haven for any photographer, if it’s moods, people or architecture that’s your subject. I’d love to spend a week just grabbing images with my camera.

Amsterdam is bicycles. You see them everywhere, and although most of them are black, there has to be one that stands out, as there always will be someone who stands out in a city like Amsterdam. I love this town.

My lost neighbour

Now and then people ask me to shoot some pictures for them, very seldom earning anything from it. But this summer I got my first real photo comission, with the subject being “My lost neighbour”. I delivered 60 images which were shown for around 1000 people at a showing last week. I wasn’t present when the images were shown, and have no idea how they were received. But here is one of the images used. The idea was to make something abstract, and the green tone is by request of the customer. I don’t know if it works, but hey, if this is what customers want, I’m not the one to tell them that they’re wrong. So what do you thing? Does the image imply loss and loneliness? Does it work, or will this be my last commission?

Rooftops

The most photographed place in Oslo the last couple of years must undoubtedly be the new Opera House. The reason? The large spaces, the very characteristic shape and color. Opera houses are places where dreams are created and manifested. I think this candid shot says just as much about the essence of dreams as a full scale image of the wonderful new Oslo landmark.
